These games are for passengers, never the driver. They work with no signal once Play-Ready has loaded, they can be played with one hand on a phone, and none of them needs fast reactions, so a bumpy road does not spoil them.

For a group in the car, try the games one person reads out: twenty questions, would you rather and riddles. For one passenger there are word games such as word chain and hangman, flag and capital quizzes, times tables, card patience and calm logic puzzles such as sudoku and nonograms. Two children in the back seat can share one phone for noughts and crosses, dots and boxes or four in a row. Remember to turn the sound off or bring headphones, and take regular breaks from the screen on long journeys.
