These games suit a classroom with no preparation: show them on a projector or interactive whiteboard for the whole class, or pass a tablet round a group. There is nothing to sign up for and there are no adverts. Scores stay on the device.

For maths there are times tables, mental maths and number puzzles. For literacy there are hangman, word searches, word ladders, missing letters and anagrams. Geography and science quizzes cover capitals, flags, currencies and the elements. For a quick break, play charades, twenty questions or riddles together. Logic puzzles such as sudoku, the Tower of Hanoi and the eight queens make good starters for problem solving, and many puzzles can also be printed with an answer page from the Printables section.
