These games suit young children, many of them before they can read well. There are counting, letter and shape games, music toys such as a piano and drums, colouring and drawing, memory pairs, and simple turn-taking games such as noughts and crosses and snakes and ladders.
The ages are suggestions based on the rules and the reading each game needs; every child is different, and younger children enjoy playing alongside a grown-up. Play-Ready has no adverts and nothing to buy, and scores stay on the device. A Kids mode in the settings shows only the Kids games and hides links to other sites, with a grown-up question to turn it off.
How we chose these: A game type is listed when its suggested age is 6 or under, judged from its rules, the reading it needs and how fast it is. Players, ages and times are suggestions.
